Bnf.fr_bot is a bot for the website of the Bibliotheque Nationale de France (bnf.fr). This library collects and preserves documents, manuscripts, prints and more. Besides this the BnF?s digital library, Gallica, provides access to over four millions documents. When following the URL in the user agent, the Library states: You have been referred to this page because your site is currently collected automatically by the BnF (National Library of France). They add in their comment that the BnF uses the Heritrix robot (http://crawler.archive.org) to collect websites. Heritrix is a crawler for the National Library of Spain. Both bots appear to work together and will both leave its user agent when crawling a page. It is however not fully transparent what is the difference between Bnf.fr_bot and Heritrix nor what these bots are actually collecting.
